Movie Tuesday!

We celebrated Friday today !
P had got a call due to which she had to miss a part of the movie. When she comes back, her roomie explains the plot so far " landlord India chala gaya , aur peeche se tenant ki naukri chali gayi.." . P remarks "peeche se kyun ? aage se gayi na? "

All the three of us got completely inspired by today's movie. Here's the reaction !
Q- Tell us the two phrases which literally mean the opposite but actually means the same !
A- With an example that R came up with, impromptu!
Go up and shut down (your system) and then go down and shut up ! :P

M was tapping R's head with affection during the movie break when the system had shut itself down ! Then she started tapping her hand ! R commented "Chaat pe karo na ! "

literal truth!

Both my roomies had this habit in their childhood to literally translate all that they heard/ read . This effect is contagious, I must tell you.

So, R tells me that in her Hindi text book when she read that "Indira Gandhi raajneeti mein kundh padi" ; she had actually visualized Indira to have made a jump ! :)

M tells me that whenever she gets to hear that "Woh dono bhag ke shaadi kar li ", she envisions the bride and the groom to be literally running away from their homes. They put the garlands around each other while on the move and solemnize the ritual. Only after the shaadi is over, do they halt their run! Just imagine!

Spend a day literally translating all that's being said around! I bet you would have some fun!

hurricane katrina!

R's another !

"Haan, united states mein bahut saare storms hote hai, aur mujhe ek ka naam bhi yaad hai! Katrina! "

daily dose!

a thing...
R comes home excited after her first swimming class! R starts telling M "You know what, swimming is a great ..." . Before R could complete , M comments "yeah, excercise". R already had the last word in her tongue which she didn't want to take back. So she constructed another sentence, "Swimming is a great exercise as well as a "thing" ! "

lights off!
P was working in their study room on her laptop. Just before going to bed in the adjacent room, she puts her laptop on standby. R, quite oblivious to this fact, comments "Thank god, padosiyon ne apni light bandh kar di hai"
*************************************************
wicketkeeper OUT!
R,P,M along with ABCDs are playing a cricket match. The rule goes like, whoever hits the ball towards the bushes would be declared out! When R is batting, the wicketkeeper catches the ball and overthrows. The ball gets flung towards the bushes. R screams out "OUT", "The wicketkeeper is OUT!"

*************************************************
Bips or Ash!
R sees an ad in some movie mag. She says with a disgusted look! "Chi, Aishwarya Rai kitni gandi lag rahee hai". P points out that its Bipasha Basu and not Mrs. Junior B. R remarks, "Oh! to phir aachi lag rahee hai! "
*************************************************
N-A models!
R sees another ad on the TV. P and M are discussing how bad it sounds when somebody talks with a put-on accent! R defends the character's accent by saying in a know-it-all manner "Non-American models ki aisi hi accent hoti hai!" PM points out that the model is none other than our very Indian Sonam Kapoor!

The booker prize winner!
R sees a book in the book-shelf. She is eager to read out the title to her roomies. So she goes. The White Aravind Adiga Tiger!

Flashback!
R was 3 years old. The lights in her home went out while she was having dinner. When the power came back, R's mom saw her daughter's dinner was (instead of the plate/ or R's mouth) in R's head. :P

Gals, more later!!

Tonight's addition -

P and M are singing their last song for the day! "Fizaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaa Fizaaaaaaaaaa"
R remarks " Fizz-aaaaa is the perfect song for Pepsi commercials ". (some wit!)
